REVIEW
After a few hours of wandering the Riverwalk, my fiancĂ© and I decided to stop at The Republic of Texas restaurant for some burgers. Unfortunately, I decided we should eat outside among the ducks. Don’t get me wrong, the ducks were cordial to us. The overly energetic waitress, however, spent half the time chasing them away. To top it off, she originally sat us so close to another group of patrons we could barely squeeze into our seats (and we’re not hefty).
Curious about the Texas Ranger-guarded cattle used to make the Akaushi Burger, that is what I ordered. Unfortunately, there was nothing special about it. My fiancé ordered the Chili Cheeseburger cooked medium. It arrived well done. It had a decent flavor, but there was nothing original about it. Our sides of fries were equally lackluster.
Overall, The Republic of Texas took a shot and missed. We left full, but there was nothing really to differentiate them from the rest of the Burger horde.
