REVIEW

Drawn to Paesanos by their nighttime atmosphere, my fiancé and I stopped in for a late dinner. After being sat, we realized none of the items on the menu have actual names. This detail made ordering difficult, but the waiter was quick to offer an abundance of information about the menu items. Giving us a minute to decide, he left us with bread and oil. The oil needed something infused with it to give it a different a different flavor profile, but helped ease our hunger.

I decided on the ‘Stuffed Shell’ for myself and my fiancĂ© chose the ‘Marquerita Pizza’. While waiting for our meals to arrive, we got a good look at the “napkins” and likened them to tablecloths due to their ridiculous size.

When our meals arrived, I noticed that my plate had not been cleaned very well. Upon tasting the dish, I enjoyed the combination of alfredo and pomodoro sauces. The shells, however, were undercooked and the filling tasted only of portobello.

The pizza was good and the sauce was sweet, It could have benefited from additional basil and thinner tomato slices. Its downfall was the crust, which has a very familiar texture… like crust from a chain pizzeria.

I still felt hungry after my meal, but overall the flavors were there. With a few tweaks, Paesanos has potential to be great.
